Aftermath of Ike...
No photos to post today but just my thoughts on Ike. We thankfully came out of the storm unharmed as did our home. The night of the storm we sustained around 85 mph winds that tore up our trees and tried to blow down our fences. It sounded like a train was circling the house from about 1am to 5am Saturday morning, we lost power but it was restored on Sunday around noon. Half of Houston is still without power 11 days later, there was so much damage to Galveston and downtown Houston it is amazing to see how powerful a storm can be, it was frightening to say the least. It still remains dangerous to drive at night as so many traffic and street lights are out and people are not stopping as they travel all over the city to find food or gas which finally has started to be restocked. I defiantly take for granted the big things in life, electricity, gas at the gas station, fully stocked grocery stores, hot water, milk in the frig. Not again, we continue to thank God everyday for keeping our family safe and will pray for those not as fortunate as they have lost everything and have nowhere to go, it will be months before this area is back to "normal". The boys are back to school and Harry is back to work.

Time for Fall
STORIA HOME Hand makes these great little signs, you can find her ofcourse on Etsy, I think it is simple adorable! They have special occasions and can customize these for you too!
I love anything painted by Gustav Kilmt and my latest impressioin of Frida Kahlo has been nothing short of simple brilant, I actually love how she paints her self portorats and gives much hommage to the Day of the Dead. (If you havent seen Freida directed by Julie Taymor yet it is worth watching, she had a very interesting/hard life and Taymor's vision is awesome as always). Ok so back to this painting, Cat Box Art Studio's combines these two artist in a brillant piece, I just love it!

Vintage and So cute, what else can I say? You can find this here at Webby Sue
So it may be September and fall is right around the corner even thought our hot humid Houston weather disagrees at least I can get geared up for it.

Something done before Hubby gets home!

So we hit a kids re-sale shop today and lucky me I found this little night light for $2.00!! Very abstract just like the other stuff in their bathroom...

Now for the art...A good friend of mine painted a picture of my old dog Oreo, it needs a new mat and frame but I think it will be a nice addition too.
One more piece of art, this was drawn by Harry's cousin...for Isaac and Logan. I think she was around 5 or 6 when she drew it, I have always loved it and held on to it for like 3 years! I think this needs a proper frame since it fits with the whole abstract theme too don't you think??
So after the purchase of the frames and a little wooden shelf I got from Hobby Lobby for $3.00 I have decorated the boys for less than $25.00! Pretty cool huh? Posted by Heather Grilliot at 11:02 PM 1 comments
